A Worldview Equipping Conference

Friday, February 22 - Saturday, February 23, 2019
at Fellowship Church Knoxville

The amount of headlines, political rhetoric, pop culture, entertainment, and digital and visual input we receive on a daily basis is overwhelming. These cultural pressures that inform social norms and shape our worldview will only continue to grow. Our response is to invite Christians to gain the clarity and social confidence to call out the life-altering perspective of the Gospel in their families, communities, schools, and workplaces.

Speaker, author, and cultural leader Brett Kunkle will help strengthen the foundation of a Christian worldview by addressing cultural pressures through teaching, answering audience questions, and providing a practical guide to defend the mind for both the current and next generation of leaders.

Session I
“Why I am a Christian: An Introduction to Apologetics”

Brett Kunkle

Most common reasons Christians give for why they embrace Christianity are often shot down by a skeptical world. We’ll discuss the primary reason why we ought to embrace Christianity: because it’s true. We’ll clarify this controversial claim and show how the truth of religious claims must be grounded in reality, not wishful thinking. Of course, such a claim is followed by questions of how we can know Christianity is true, so we’ll look at the importance of apologetics for Christians living in the 21st century.

Session II
“How Your Worldview Matters to Every Single Area of Your Life”

Brett Kunkle

What is a worldview and why does it even matter? Everyone has a worldview but most people have never thought carefully about why they believe what they believe. Ironically, one’s worldview has profound consequences for all of life. We’ll take a quick look at the prominent worldviews in our culture and then discuss the very practical implications of worldview for how we live each and every day.

Session III
“A Practical Guide to Culture: Helping the Next Generation Navigate Today’s World”

Brett Kunkle

Something has changed. We all sense it. The cultural pressure is increasing, especially on our kids. But even in a world of ever-present screens, gender identity questions, and a host of other challenges, kids can have clarity and confidence. But we must help them. In this talk, we will examine today’s cultural challenges and provide a practical guide to equip parents, pastors, youth workers and Christian leaders to help the next generation navigate today’s world. Based on Brett’s book, co-authored with John Stonestreet.

Defend the Mind, Engage the Heart: How Deep Truth Stirs Deep Affection
March 3 & 10, 11:00am, High School Room

We’ve all heard sermons or been to Bible studies that hit us hard with deep truths in the moment, and we assume things will never be the same. As we sit in a worship service or our groups, God is gracious to allow His Spirit to open our eyes to something new about ourselves or about Him. But then Tuesday comes…and everything feels the same. Our feelings are often moved by the music, teaching, and sense of a community on mission together, but how do we let these truths engage our hearts in such a way that they deepen our love for Christ and for others? Join us for this 2-part Growth Series with RD McClenagan and JC Neely as we explore how to embrace these deep truths so they stir deep affections as well.
